CCCSN- Clementina Centre For Children With Special Needs

Who we are

Clementina Centre for Children with Special Needs is the brainchild of Mrs. Folake Makanjuola.

It is a project of care for children with Learning Difficulties; proposed to be a registered Charity, with its administrative and service center based in Lagos Nigeria.

We have identified the need amongst families and care givers of young disabled children, for a care centre that can offer support, counseling and information for disabilities such as:

A)    Developmental Delay

B)     Downs Syndrome

C)     Autism

D)    Brain damage caused by trauma

E)     Genetic conditions

F)      Dyslexia

G)     Dyspraxia

WHY WE EXIST

Many of us take learning for granted. For children with learning difficulties, the process of learning new skills and developing fuller understanding of the world around them is not so easy.  It can be much more difficult to understand or make sense of things others take for granted.

C.C.C.S.N exists to help these children reach their full potential, and have a more fulfilling and personally rewarding life.

OUR AIM

 What we do

WHAT WE DO

Every child with learning difficulties is an individual with their needs, talents, likes and dislikes and the right to reach their full potential.

Whatever the cause of a child’s learning difficulties, the effects are still profound in some ways.

We work with parents by offering valuable support system, which allows time to talk and receive practical advice and help.

We provide individual programme to improve the quality of life for the whole family unit, recognizing that the best environment to bring up a child is within the family unit.

Our therapists teach parents how to help their child with a tailored holistic program combining physical exercise and activities, sensory stimulation, individual learning programme and a comprehensive nutrition program. We will carefully monitor the child and re-assess to adjust program when necessary.

The sort of learning difficulties we regularly expect to come across include children with developmental problems and disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, brain injury, behavioral problems and various genetic disorders.  Even when diagnosis is not certain, as is sometimes the case, the child can still be helped.

C.C.C.S.N also helps children with the following;

-Specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia

-Attention deficits hyperactive disorder.

Conditions like these can create feelings of failure and frustration. The children often think they are stupid, and they are sometimes victims of bullying tactics, and criticism in their different environments.
